1 How do I enable SmartPop on my store?
- From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes → Customize.
- Open App embeds (the puzzle-piece icon in the bottom-left).
- Turn on SmartPop and click Save.
The SmartPop dashboard’s Setup Guide shows an “Enable App” step that turns green once it detects the embed is on.
2 How do I create a pop-up?
- Open SmartPop and go to Markets.
- Click Create Pop-up, pick the type, country and language, then create.
- You land in the full editor — customize, then Save.
- Back in Markets, toggle the pop-up Active to make it live.
3 What pop-up types are there?
- Age verification — Yes/No or birthday check that gates your store.
- Generic — announcements, promos, or consent (no age check).
- Back-in-stock email capture Premium — a button on sold-out products that collects emails.
Pick the type at the top of the editor under Popup Type.
4 How do I choose a layout?
In the editor, open Pop-up Layouts and click a layout card. The live preview updates instantly. Your plan decides how many layouts are unlocked.
5 How do I change the background colors?
Open the Pop-up Setting box in the editor. There are two backgrounds:
- Background Color — the pop-up card itself.
- Outer Layer Color & Opacity — the dimmed overlay behind the pop-up.
Click a color swatch, pick a color, and watch the preview update.
6 How do I add or change the logo?
Basic Logos are available on Basic & Premium.
- Open the Pop-up Logo Settings box.
- Turn on Show Logo.
- Click Upload to add an image (or paste a hosted image URL).
7 How do I edit the heading & sub-heading?
Open Text Customizations. Edit the Heading and Sub-heading text, and set font, weight, size, and color for each.
{{minimum_age}} in your text — it’s automatically replaced with the age you set.8 How do I customize the buttons?
Open Button Settings. Each button has its own text, colors, border, radius, font and size.
- Age pop-ups show two buttons (Yes / No).
- Generic pop-ups can hide the buttons entirely (a close ✕ shows instead) — toggle Show buttons.
9 How do I set the minimum age?
For an age-verification pop-up, open Verification Settings and set the Age field. Choose No Input (Yes/No buttons) or Via Birthdate (a date picker that calculates the visitor’s age).
10 What happens when someone fails verification?
In Button Settings → Rejection Behavior, choose either:
- Redirect to a URL — sends under-age visitors away (e.g. to Google).
- Show a message — keeps them blocked with a message you write.
11 How do I control where the pop-up shows? Basic
Open Display Criteria and pick one:
- All pages
- Specific pages — list the page URLs.
- Specific Products / Collections / Product Tags — choose the resources.
12 How do “show every time” and cookies work? Basic
In Pop-up Show Settings:
- Show every time ON — the pop-up shows on every visit.
- OFF — once a visitor passes, a cookie hides it for the number of days you set in Cookie Duration.
13 How do translations work? Premium
- Open the Translations box and add a language.
- Translate the heading, sub-heading, button text, rejection and privacy text.
On your storefront, the pop-up automatically shows in the visitor’s language (matched by Shopify’s active storefront language). Untranslated fields fall back to your default text. Use the Preview language dropdown to check it.
14 How do I set up a back-in-stock pop-up? Premium
- Create a pop-up of type Back-in-stock email capture and customize the Email Capture Settings (button text, success message, optional consent checkbox). Make it Active.
- In Online Store → Themes → Customize, open a product template.
- Click Add block → Apps → Back-in-stock button, place it near the buy button, and Save.
On sold-out products, a full-width button appears. Clicking it opens your pop-up to collect the shopper’s email.
15 Where do I see the collected emails? Premium
- Open the Subscribers page in SmartPop.
- See totals and a By product breakdown; click View subscribers on any product.
- Click Download CSV & remove to export that product’s emails — and clear them, since the product is back in stock.
16 What’s included in each plan?
- Free — 1 age + 1 generic pop-up, 1 layout, core styling.
- Basic — 3 generic pop-ups, 5 layouts, logo & background images, targeting, cookies, privacy text.
- Premium — unlimited pop-ups, all 10 layouts, translations, and back-in-stock email capture + CSV export.
Manage your plan on the Plans page. You can upgrade or downgrade anytime. If you downgrade, your data (pop-ups and subscribers) is kept — Premium features simply pause until you upgrade again.
