Review the handover requirements
Read the lease, previous inspection notes and any written landlord instructions. Identify which appliances, windows, storage areas or outdoor spaces are expected to be included.
Ask for clarification before booking if a requirement is unclear. A cleaning team can only plan for tasks that are described and accessible.
Schedule in the right order
Move belongings out first, then clean, inspect and hand over keys. Avoid scheduling movers and cleaners in the same rooms because new dirt and blocked access reduce efficiency.
Keep utilities active until cleaning and inspection are finished. Allow a buffer before the landlord appointment for a final walk-through.
Document condition and damage
Photograph rooms, appliances, meters and existing defects. Cleaning cannot repair scratches, broken fittings, damaged sealant or permanent staining.
Record these separately so the handover discussion distinguishes cleanliness from maintenance or repair responsibilities.
Set realistic expectations
Provide accurate size, condition and priorities. Confirm optional tasks in advance and understand that a fixed booking duration limits how much work can be completed.
A professional clean supports the handover but does not guarantee a deposit decision, which depends on the contract, damage and landlord assessment.
